We, in our household, only use laptops, and dragging that transmitter around from room to room with us is not an option, not to mention leaving a battery-driven laptop on all the time, obviously.
It requires the transmitter to be chained to a PC running the software CONSTANTLY. PLUS, I foolishly thought that maybe it connected directly with our wireless network for its info (hence, "Internet" Weather Station). This one IS prettier with it's slick design and LCD-like display (it is NOT, however, LCD, if you were thinking from the photos if it is). BIG LETDOWN! At least our old one tells you what it is outside without having to experience it! STRIKE ONE. When I opened the Sharper Image Internet Weather Station, I realized it did not display current conditions. I was hoping that it would replace our old weather station, which displays only current conditions & forecast for some ambiguous period in the future.
I can't believe I didn't research it before requesting it!
I specifically asked (or at least hinted strongly) to my wife that I'd really like this for Christmas now I'm thinking I need to return it. In the three days of owning this device, I've experienced every trouble the previous reviewers have, except for the broken stand. Kenny66 sums it up pretty nicely this thing is frought with suckage, and even when you try to give it a break, it doesn't reward you.
